Cruises | Ecuador, Galapagos Island
The cumulative, recently published, results of a seven-year survey of more than 100 cruise ships still in service worldwide ranks the staterooms on the 100-passenger, 50-suite Galapagos Explorer II among the best in the industry in passenger satisfaction. The intense and selective process of evaluation was conducted by CruiseReports magazine and include the average of all volunteer passenger evaluations submitted.

All staterooms aboard the M/V Galapagos Explorer II are outside and are on average 250 square feet in size. Offered in queen or twin-bed configurations, all staterooms are air conditioned, richly paneled, and proffer full-length wardrobes, marble, baths, televisions with VCRs, refrigerator-bars, telephones, and 110 volt electric.

The Galapagos Explorer II’s combination of first rate guidance and interpretation in the soft adventure, nature based tourism segment, is coupled with world-class service and quality.

The Galapagos Explorer II , featured on the A&E Televisions Network’s “Top Ten” series as the best choice for cruising and visiting the Galapagos Islands, is an ecologically conscious, all-suite vessel that accommodates 100 passengers in 50 exterior suites. The ship offers a selection of popular and interesting itineraries for the best possible visitor experience to this pristine paradise. Expert naturalist guides escort small groups to visit the islands giving privacy and personal attention.

A well-stocked library a science room and other facilities provide an environmentally friendly, educational cruise focusing on the natural history of Darwin’s fabled Galapagos Archipelago. Both an outdoor pool, Jacuzzi and boutique for sundry items are also available. A doctor to handle minor illness or mishaps is always part of the crew.

The Galapagos Explorer II visits up to ten islands on a typical 7-night cruise. The archipelago consists of thirteen ‘large’ islands, six small ones, and more than 40 islets.

Built in 1990, the 89.35 meter the ship which would become the Galapagos Explorer II was recognized as one of the finest cruise ships in the world under its original name, Renaissance III. The classic lines and profile of the ship are carried through to the interior in public rooms and all 50 private suites.

Dining aboard Galapagos Explorer II is open, one-seating and informal, yet elegant in the no-smoking restaurant. The renowned culinary staff prepares a daily fare of popular international and traditional Ecuadorian cuisine, as well as special diets, all served with style and flair. Lunch is served buffet on deck.

The Galapagos Explorer produces its own fresh water. All soaps, detergents and shampoo used on board are biodegradable. Residual water, under aerobic decomposition, is filtered and purified with ozone before being discharged into open waters, as is biodegradable waste which is ground into fine particles.

The ship is equipped with a special sewage treatment system that minimizes environmental disturbance. Chlorine is not used on board. Paper and non-toxic solids are incinerated. Metal cans are compacted for recycling and together with non –biodegradable trash and returned to port.
